Saturday, September 29th, 2007

By Heather Gneco Although the rapidly growing homeschool market may lookappealing to many businesses, knowing how to attract theseunique consumers poses a challenge. With a growing number ofeducational choices and opportunities vying for the homeeducator’s attention, your business must stand out from allthe others. The secret to success comes with a littlecreative thinking, a dash of persistence and a few insidertips. According to statistics, the number of homeschoolingfamilies continues to increase by 15% each year. Although, home educators do exhibit common characteristics, thisdiverse and changing group homeschools for many differentpurposes. No longer do these educationally focused familieschoose to educate their children at home purely forreligious reasons. The movement consists of families fromall walks of life, income levels and backgrounds.Educational freedom abounds for home educators, and manystates do not require any sort of registration. So how doesa business magnetize this vast, but obscure, consumer group? Tailor your product, program or service for the unique needsof homeschooling families! The idiom “you can lead a horseto water, but you can’t make him drink” especially holdstrue in marketing to the homeschool population. Programs ormaterials that work in a traditional school setting will notnecessarily work well in a homeschool environment. As homeschooling grows, more curriculum choices eliminatethe need to buy prepackaged materials intended for schools. Some home educators continue to purchase these resources, however a rapidly growing number pass up traditional schoolprograms and embrace a more personalized approach to theirchildren’s education. Most use a wide variety of educationalmaterials to complement their child’s unique learning style. Home educators are more flexible in their schedules and canaccommodate and participate in field trips and enrichmentclasses during the day. This provides a perfect solution forbusiness and organizations that struggle with slow times orneed to increase traffic during off-peak hours. Offer apopular class at a less busy time during the week and, withthe right advertising, you are sure to get a stream ofhomeschoolers lining up at your door! Conducting a survey, administering a focus group or gettingfeedback provides excellent opportunities to determine ifwhat you have will attract home educators. Distributingsamples and offering trial versions are inexpensivesolutions to get your product into the hands of your targetmarket. Look for individuals or organizations that offerproduct evaluation and testing performed by homeschoolingfamilies. You will learn first hand from the end user ifyour product or service makes the grade! Create credibility and build trust by offering helpfulinformation through writing content-rich articles oroffering seminars. Home educators become skeptical of abusiness that shows more interest in profits than in thefamilies who make up their customer base. By following a few simple steps to make your business morehomeschool friendly, the biggest pay-off will be repeatcustomers and word of mouth referrals. Home educators loveto spread the word about great products and services thatbenefit homeschooling. So, invest a little time to tailor aprogram with homeschoolers in mind, gather feedback andcultivate credibility. You will no doubt attract thiswonderful market, gain repeat business and stand above yourcompetitors! Personal Loan for all your Financial Desires

Thursday, September 27th, 2007

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=John_Carry]John Carry Personal loan is a multi-purpose loan. You can use personal loan for many reasons like debt consolidation, home improvement, for buying a new or used car, childrens higher education, wedding, for purchasing exotic holiday package, etc. A personal loan can either be secured or unsecured. Are you planning to purchase a new car? If money is the main constraint then, you can look for personal loan. For homeowners, secured personal loan could be the best option. It has many benefits like low interest rate, flexible repayment period, easy monthly instalments, etc. However, if you do not repay the loan on time, lenders may repossess your property. Unsecured personal loan does not require collateral. But, these loans offered by the lenders have high rate of interest as compared to secured personal loans. The repayment period is shorter and you can borrow a limited amount of money only. But, loan approval and processing for unsecured personal loan is fast and there is no risk of repossession of the property by the lenders. Before availing the loan, it is very necessary to get an idea of the financial market, present interest rates, terms and conditions, etc. For gathering all the information, you need not to contact the lenders in person. Internet is the best option as you can surf financial websites. Gather all the information and then apply for the loan. Online application form is easy and quick. Just fill in the application form and submit it. You will get quick response from a number of lenders. Choose the best one as per your financial requirement and avail personal loan now. Political Front In Nepal the tension has been relieved at least for now as King Gyanendra announced on television that he would reinstate the nations parliament. On that news a mass celebration broke out in Kathmandu. The countdown continues, as the United Nations Security Council may slap sanctions against Iran if they do not cease their venture into nuclear power and enriched uranium. Both India and China urge for a diplomatic approach as any force against Iran may grow into a larger issue. Iran stated that if sanctions are imposed against the country that they will cease cooperating with the UN nuclear watchdog. This may lead to Iran dropping out of the Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty and could have an impact on the oil supply coming out of Iran. Movers and Shakers Some major movers in Mondays trading session include Carpenter Technology (NYSE: CRS) which traded up $12.53 to close at $123.55, U.S. Airways (NYSE: LCC) which traded up $$4.17 to close at $41.90, Industrial Services of America (NASDAQ: IDSA) Which came close to a double , it traded up $4.02 , over 80% to close at $8.99, National Coal (NASDAQ: NCOC) traded up $2.06 to close at $10.13, Ballard Power (NASDAQ: BLDP) traded up $2.24 to close at $12.50, Foundation Coal Holdings (NYSE: FCL) traded up $4.10 to close at $52.10, Empire Resources (AMEX: ERS) traded up $4.21 to close at $45.20 and TravelZoo (NASDAQ: TZOO) had another roaring up day as it traded up $6.00 to close at $50.35, now TravelZoo just 8 days ago was trading in the $20 range and the short squeeze keeps pushing the stock to new highs.. Tid Bits Caterpillar (NYSE: CAT) rips through 1st quarter projections as the heavy machinery company announced that their profit rose 48% to $1.20 a share, this pounded the analyst estimate by a good 20 cents. The company still has more growth both in the United States and overseas as China and India continue to grow and the U.S. rebuilds New Orleans and other parts of the nation. TD Ameritrade (NASDAQ: AMTD) beat the analyst estimate be a penny as they announced earnings of 22 cents up over 29% from the same time a year ago. But they implemented a price restructuring that reduced their flat fee by a buck to $9.99. some analyst feel that this will take a nice chunk out of their future earnings. Another stock to keep close tabs on in the online brokerage arena is E-Trade (NYSE: ET) as it powers up in 2006. Rambus (NASDAQ: RMBS) zooms up as they receive a favorable ruling in a patent litigation case. The California court ruled that the Korean chipmaker Hynix infringed on over 10 patents owned by Rambus. Sun Microsystems (NASDAQ SUNW) CEO Scott McNealy has announced his resignation from the company after a 22-year stint. This could wind up to be a turnaround situation that investors have been looking for and maybe it will generate a newfound energy into the company that it desperately needs. He will be replaced by Suns current president Jonathan Schwartz, and McNealy will continue as the Chairman of the Board. Certain analyst have jumped on the bandwagon and upgraded the stock from a hold to a buy, which it just may be at this point. Make Your Marketing Budget Go Farther- Use Seasonality

Tuesday, September 25th, 2007

By Debbie LaChusa In my 10stepmarketing System I talk about a marketing strategy called Seasonality. It can play an important role in your marketing plan. What is Seasonality? It’s marketing to your prospects when they are most likely to be thinking about your product or service. Not only can it stretch your budget, it can greatly improve your response rates and sales conversion. For example, if you are marketing a health and wellness product or service, what would be the natural time of year to focus your marketing? Easy, right? Coincide with January and all those New Year’s resolutions to lose weight and get in shape. Or, market during late spring and early summer when everyone wants to get in shape for swimsuit season. Big Springtime Marketers Spring is also a big time of year for wedding-related businesses … and Mother’s Day … and graduation … and outdoor landscaping … and even home renovations. ALL those things we’re already thinking about this time to year. Just look around at the ads you’re seeing right now and you’ll start to get a feel for what types of businesses are taking advantage of spring seasonal marketing. Make Your Budget Go Farther Let’s say you can’t afford to run all of the marketing activities in your marketing plan every single month, all year long. The good news is, you don’t need to, to be effective. Yes, you always want to have at least one marketing activity out there promoting your business. However, if yours is a seasonal business, you can concentrate the bulk of your marketing leading into the seasonal peaks. And, you can scale back during the seasonal valleys (when no one is thinking about your product or service). Improve Response Rates and Sales If someone is already in the buying state of mind for your product or service, there’s a greater chance they’re going to pay attention to your marketing, and a greater chance they will buy. Your Marketing Step Take a look at your business this week and identify your seasonal peaks or valleys. Then arrange your marketing plan accordingly. Debbie LaChusa created The 10stepmarketing System to make marketing your own business as simple as answering 10 questions. Diet & Workout Tips to Lose Fat

Sunday, September 23rd, 2007

By Craig Ballantyne Fat loss programs don’t have to mean endless boring cardio sessions and light weight, high rep strength-sapping workouts. No way. In fact, you can get all of your training done in 45 minutes or less, while sculpting a better body with efficient exercise methods. Here is the theory behind the program: * interval training rather than long duration aerobic exercise is a better method to use to get “ripped” because it boosts the metabolism (energy expenditure) to a greater level outside of the exercise period and therefore burns more calories over the entire day than a session of aerobic exercise * weight training helps maintain lean tissue (muscle) and promotes a healthy attractive appearance, therefore everyone should include some resistance training in their workouts! * this program will enable you to spend less time in gym but demands a greater effort than a normal workout (due to shortened rest intervals) * sprinting is probably the most effective interval activity for weight loss (see below) * for the resistance training, use a light load, short rest intervals, and supersets of alternate muscle groups, essentially, this is CIRCUIT TRAINING, BUT/ it works! * perform all exercise (intervals and weights) with complete MENTAL FOCUS FOR ALL WORKOUTS : warm-up with 2 sets of the first exercise for each new body part : each set should be done with a weight that will allow ~8 repetitions : CIRCUIT TRAINING eliminates wasted time between sets & uses more energy : do 1 set of an exercise and move directly to the next (go through entire circuit once OR pair exercises for 2-3 sets before moving on) : go through the circuit as many times as desired OR as long as time allows (25 minutes max) : emphasize exercises requiring more muscles and allow you to use more weight Total Body Sample Workout Squat OR Leg press …. superset with …… Dumbell Shoulder press Split Squat or Lunge… superset with Dumbbell Chest Press Step-ups… superset with Mountain Climbers Limit abdominal work to 10-minutes every other day as your time is much better spent training larger muscles OR doing “intervals” to improve metabolism and expend more energy INTERVALS (20 minutes total time) * hard activity followed by periods of a lower intensity * intervals increase metabolism & help make training sessions go by a little quicker * on stationary cycle: warm-up for 5 minutes, then go hard for 30s and slow for 60s, repeat 6 times, cool down for 5 minutes * sprinting: warm-up for 5 minutes; run hard 60 seconds, rest 60 seconds, repeat 5 times, cool down 5 minutes DIET Fat reduction through a combination of exercise and calorie restriction is necessary for optimal abs. This means more energy goes out than comes in and that should lead to a reduction in body fat. If it were only so simple! Here are some more advanced tips… * Subtract approximately 200 to 500 calories per day depending on your present caloric intake. The calories should come exclusively from carbohydrate sources, preferably simple carbohydrates (sugar and processed breads, etc.). * Reduce your intake of unnecessary fluids such as pop, alcohol, and sugar-packed juices. Increase your water intake (3L per day) and eliminate all sources of fluids that contain calories. Get your vitamin requirements through food sources and supplementation. * Do NOT starve yourself because excessive caloric restriction may cause a reduction in the metabolic rate and the body will adapt to store rather than expend energy. * When attempting to lose weight, maintain a protein intake of 1.2g/kg to prevent the loss of lean body mass (muscle). * Record your food intake in a diet log. This will help you adjust your nutrient proportions and caloric intake. * Base success on skinfold measurements and body composition analyses, not on the reading from the bathroom scale! * Consider a consultation with a registered dietician to determine a specific diet to help meet your training goals. Tummy Fat! Is It Important?

Sunday, September 23rd, 2007

By Kim Beardsmore Tummy fat. Some of us have it, others don’t. Is there anything special about a big belly compared to a large bottom? Well, surprisingly, not all body fat is created equal! According to a study carried out by researchers from MacMaster University, Hamilton, Ontario it seems that gauging your heart attack risk depends on where your fat is, rather that how much fat you have. These types of findings are not unique to MacMasters. Dr David Heber, Ph.D., from UCLAs Centre for Human Nutrition reports that distribution of body fat is a more important predictor of heart attack risk than the traditional measurement of Body Mass Index (BMI), which is a measurement based on the ratio between your height and weight. It appears that a more accurate predictor of the impact body fat has on your health, is your overall body shape. You may be more like an apple or a pear, or evenly shaped top and bottom. You may have large thighs, fat hips and a huge bum and have a lower heart attack risk than someone with skinny legs and a big belly. A more accurate and telling predictor of heart attack risk, is the waist-to-hip ratio. What is your waist-to-hip ratio? Divide your waist measurement by your hip measurement. For example, if your hips measurement is 40 inches and your waist is 34 inches your hip-to-waist ratio is 0.85. If you are a man, that’s great, if you are a woman, that’s OK (but you are right on the limit of healthy). - A man’s ratio should not be over 0.90 - A woman’s ratio should not be over 0.85 Dont fight nature If you were born an apple you will stay an apple and if you were born a pear you will continue to be appear. Accepting your natural body shape is the first step in losing weight. In a study led by Glasgow, Scotland, psychologist Dorothy Hefferman, Ph.D., researchers concluded that women whose actual body shape differs from their desired one may find losing weight frustrating and have more trouble sticking to a weight-loss program as a result. If this sounds like you, accept your overall shape as nature intended, but pay attention to reducing fat around your middle and tummy areas. Circumference is much more important to your health than how you look in relation to your bust and bottom. Kim Beardsmore is a weight loss consultant whose business operates across 60 countries. ADHD and Depression — More Common Than Thought

Friday, September 21st, 2007

By Douglas Cowan, Psy.D. “Thanks for Noticin’ Me” says Eeyore. He walks slowly. He looks sad. He doesn’t accomplish much. He’s just glad to be noticed. This is Eeyore, the stuffed donkey who is so often in need of his tail being pinned back on. Eeyore is a good picture of life is like for those who are impacted by the type of ADHD that includes sadness, or depression. It is estimated that as many as 25% of all those with ADHD have to battle depression as well. This type of ADHD is called “Limbic System ADHD” by Daniel Amen, and for good reason. SPECT scans show that when the brain is at rest, there is increased activity deep in the limbic system, in parts of the brain called the thalamus and hypothalamus. There is also a decreased level of activity in the underside of the pre-frontal cortex. When the brain is placed under a work load, as during a homework assignment, we would expect the under-active pre-frontal cortex to increase activity and get to work. But instead, nothing changes. The over-active limbic system remains over-active, and the under-active pre-frontal cortex remains under-active. Those with this type, or style of ADHD are often very inattentive to details, and are easily distracted by unimportant things. They have a chronic sadness or low-grade depression to deal with every day. They seem to be negative, or apathetic, and have low energy levels. They just do not seem to care. They often feel worthless, or helpless, or hopeless. As you can see this type of ADHD looks very much like a combination of ADHD and Depression. Our specific treatment strategy for Limbic System, or Eeyore style ADHD, begins with our recommended Eating Program. In addition, experts recommend DL-Phenylalyne (up to 600 mg per day for adults), 5-HTP, and B Vitamins and St. John’s Wort (up to 600 mg per day for adults). We think that best way to approach this problem is by using the nutraceutical medicines Attend, Extress, and Deprex, which are available over the counter. The Attend contains over 70 ingredients, including GABA, DL-Phenylalyne, Ginko, Pycnogenol and Grape Seed Extracts, 5-HTP, pregnenolone, DMAE, and more. The Extress contains GABA, DL-PA, 5-HTP, and St. John’s Wort. Deprex contains more GABA, and just 2 capsules of DEPREX contain 320 mg of St. John’s Wort and 420 mg of DL-Phenylalyne. When combined in a targeted treatment strategy like this, the individual with limbic ADHD can expect to see improved and stabilized moods, improved concentration, and improved memory. Douglas Cowan, Psy.D., is a family therapist who has been working with ADHD children and their families since 1986. He is the clinical director of the ADHD Information Library’s family of seven web sites, including http://www.newideas.net, helping over 350,000 parents and teachers learn more about ADHD each year. Dr. Cowan also serves on the Medical Advisory Board of VAXA International of Tampa, FL., is President of the Board of Directors for KAXL 88.3 FM in central California, and is President of NewIdeas.net Incorporated. Here Come the Questions

Tuesday, September 18th, 2007

By Cynthia Cavalenes Why is it that even though I am not positive if I like a guy, because of course its only been a week, that when he doesnt call for 3 days it becomes a dramatic incident, and all of a sudden its Fiona Apple time? There is no reason for him to not call; everything was fine last we spoke. With the time frame we are discussing here in the first place it shouldnt even phase me that a man decides to not call for 3 days, or possibly (gulp) never again. I never slept with him, I never drunkenly made a fool of myself over him or around him, in fact we had a lovely first date, probably one of the most successful I have ever been on considering this particular date including shopping. On top of that we spoke multiple times this week. Now it is Sunday night and I have heard nothing from the adorable Mr. Foley, it shouldnt matter. But it does. Why is it that when these unexplainable events happen that it almost eats away at our insides? Why do we constantly have to over analyze the fact that man just isnt calling? It isnt like this never happens to us; we all know it happens all the time. No matter how gorgeous, or thin, or rich you are, none of us are exempt from men being complete morons and falling off the face of the earth. It happens to the best of us. Even famous actress go through this kind of bullshit. Dont believe me? When you get a chance, ask one of them. The time frame of concern varies for all of us, but for me its 3 days. If after 3 days you are some how to busy to call me, than I am pretty sure youre not going to. Why do men wait for so long? Some actually do come back around for whatever reason, in my personal opinion it is because they suddenly realize Id really like to get laid soon, maybe I should call that girl I went out with a couple of times already… I honestly believe that they do forget about us for some reason, or maybe they are just trying to remain aloof and detached. Regardless of the reason when a man doesnt call for more than 3 days in my book they just are not willing to put forth the effort it takes to keep an easily distracted filly such as I. Here is the most ridiculous part of the equation, and the detail I am not proud of admitting, when they dont call, my interest is peaked. I suddenly desire them to call even more than before when they were being good little boys and I thought I had him trapped in my web. Give men credit were credit is due. They know this, and this is why most of them refrain from communication for extended periods of time. I blame the media, back in the day men had no outlet for such knowledge and our secrets were safe. Now we have chick flicks and womens magazines. The two sexes can be friends, and friends talk. Woman have divulged important secrets to their dotting male friends because we naively believed that we were helping them to make a fellow sister happy, and at the same time helping them to be happy. We all want our friends to be happy. I myself have sought council in a male friend to explain the actions of a potential suitor. Its beneficial, but still makes things messy. Equality be damned, we are not equal, and all is fair in love and war. So men are now aware of our secrets. When they dont call we pine over them, and actually like them more than when we were talking to them and communication was regular. I know some girls actually do like men before they start this game, I cant count myself among them, for I lie in wait for such incidents to occur. Call me psychic, call me pessimistic, but I know that man wont be calling me anything soon. They dont loose our numbers, or become insanely busy at work. No body died, and they werent hit by a bus. Their phones havent been shut off, nor somehow fell in a lake. With the fact that the current man in question is the manager for Cingular wireless, I know that he couldnt possibly try and blame this on his cell phone, which is where my number resides in the hopes he will some day use it again. This silence is intentional, and not beyond his control. He is either playing a game, or has completely lost interest. Since I firmly believe in the saying that women are crazy and men are stupid, we tend to believe that the latter is almost defiantly the case. He has lost interest in me. Here come the questions. What did I do? What didnt I do? Did he meet some one else prettier or thinner? (THAT BITCH!) Everything was fine and then he just doesnt call Lets paint a vivid picture of what is happening on both sides of the fence here. You, the uncalled woman, are standing in line at Starbucks with your two best friends on a break from shopping (which is always the best thing to do in situations like this, we should get discount cards for times like these, lets start a petition) milling over every detail of the events that occurred during your brief beginnings and your two best friends are ever supportive and insist that he will call. Maybe you have friends who feel as I sometimes do, and tell you that he is just a jerk and you shouldnt waste your time (and mine) talking about him. We are all supportive in our own unique ways. Here is what the not calling man is doing: Sitting on the couch watching whatever sport is in season at the time, with some blank expression on his face, and no thoughts whatsoever going on in his head beyond trying to conjure up the energy to get another beer. Woman in their 20s and 30s and 40s go through the same thing over and over again. Are there any women out there who are exempt? Have any some how discovered the secret to maintaining sanity while aimlessly sifting through countless men searching for one who is worth spending more than a night with? I have easily mastered finding a man worthy of an evenings worth of time, and even if he was barely worth that, there is always mass consumption of alcohol. Thats easy, coincidently that is also being easy. We are not all created like Samantha Jones from Sex and the City. The rest of the population could never be satisfied with such a lifestyle. (I would bet there are very few woman out there who havent had a jonesian moment locked away in their past some where) For some reason there is just something in a womans DNA that craves being a couple. We can fight it, we can deny it, but it is what every woman wants. Why? I cant seem to understand. I have asked all of my coupled girlfriends, and receive many of the same answers. Sense of purpose to some one elses life, fear of being alone, a regular sex partner, (okay that was the best reason I could come up with for being in a relationship, so sue me) Apparently this whole relationship thing is important to society. Besides for reason of proper procreation, I cant seem to figure out why. While discussing this point with my girlfriends I have received the same answer over and over again, someday I will. When it happens Ill let you know, I am sure hallmark made a card for it. I will expect proper correspondence for such a blessed occasion. How Do You Know When You’re Eating Enough?

Sunday, September 16th, 2007

By Julia Hall I come across this all the time, particularly in my female clients. Our logical, rational minds say “if I don’t eat much, then I’ll have to lose weight.” That’s just not true. Our bodies are amazing survivors, and if you’re taking in too few calories, your body will go into what’s called starvation mode. In that mode, your body’s metabolism is in low, low, low gear. Anything at all that you take into your body, your body will hang onto for dear life. It’s not about to give up anything that is stored, because it’s gotten the message, “I don’t know when I’m going to get more nutrition, so I’m going to hang onto whatever I get when I get it.” I know that’s very hard to understand from a logical, rational point of view. You’re thinking, “I’m only taking in 1000 calories; how can I not be losing weight.” Well, that’s why. Your body will not allow you to lose weight if you aren’t taking in enough calories. So, what is enough calories? For the most part, if you are taking in somewhere between 1800 and 2300 calories a day, you are in the ballpark. If you are really a tiny, small-statured person, you may only want to take in somewhere between 1300 to 1800, but that would be someone who is quite small and petite. The average person out there needs somewhere between 1800 and 2300 calories per day. For someone who has been dieting a lot, that sounds like a huge amount of food, but it’s not … not if it’s the right food and it’s the healthy food. The choices that you make mean everything. I’m going to walk you through a typical day that would give your body excellent nutrition. Breakfast. You get up, and the first thing you’re going to do is drink a 10 ounce glass of water, because you’ve been asleep for anywhere from 7 to 10 hours, and your body is dehydrated. So, drink a nice large glass of water first thing when you get up. When you’re ready for your breakfast, somewhere between 6 and 8 a.m., you need to take in a protein, a good complex carbohydrate and some healthy fat. So, a typical breakfast I would recommend would be of a cantaloupe, cut up, a cup of low-fat cottage cheese and 2 tablespoons of no-fat vanilla yogurt mixed up in a bowl. Your cottage cheese and your yogurt are both excellent sources of protein. There are some excellent complex carbohydrates in the cantaloupe and you’re getting decent fat with your low-fat cottage cheese and no-fat yogurt. Midmorning Snack. About 9:30 to 10:00 in the morning, you want to eat a snack. Maybe have a small carton of fat-free yogurt, a handful of almonds, possibly a mozzarella cheese stick or a piece of fruit. All of these are good choices. Lunch. Your lunch needs to consist of a large amount of vegetables, whether it be a nice mixed green salad or some steamed vegetables or raw vegetables. Then, your protein, either tuna, chicken or some lean protein. You are recommended to have somewhere between 3 and 5 ounces of protein at lunch. Again, you want to have another large glass of water, and it would have been a good idea to have another one with your midmorning snack or sip water throughout the morning if you are able to do that. Midafternoon Snack. Around 3:30 or 4:00, you want to have a piece of fruit, carrot sticks, another mozzarella cheese stick, something that’s going to give you good energy. Low in fat and complex carbs or protein are great choices. Dinner. Again, you want to have a load of vegetables, a couple of cups of vegetables and 4-6 ounces of lean protein. Also, here you might want to have a piece of very hearty grained bread or half a sweet potato, a small serving of brown rice. Another large glass of water would be recommended. Evening Snack. You could have a snack before bed, but I would make it something light. Good choice is, say, a 6-ounce of skim milk. If you’ve been dieting, you hear that day’s food plan and you think, “that’s just a huge amount of food.” But, if you will commit to eating like that for 2 weeks, your body will then have gotten the message that more food is coming. Every 2-3 hours your body is being nourished, so suddenly, and even often before the 2 weeks is up, your body begins to drop stored fat, you begin to lose weight. I have seen this so much, where people just are not eating enough food for the body to let go of what it’s storing. Another issue is the amount of fiber you are getting in your diet. It is very, very important that you have 8-10 servings of fruits and vegetables a day, as well as hearty grains. These are very important for slowing down digestion and allowing your body to absorb out of your food the nutrition that it needs. Without enough fiber present, your food passes through you so quickly, you are always feeling that you want something else. Typically, these cravings cause us to overeat on things that aren’t good choices. If you will commit to eating like this for a couple of weeks, you are going to see a tremendous change in your body. It will begin to let go of stored fat, and you will begin to lean out. Now, this is in conjunction, of course, with an exercise program of at least 180 minutes of cardio a week and at least 2 hours of weight training. The more, the better. You can overdo it on your weight training, and you definitely want to have a day of rest in between your weight training sessions. Your cardio work you can do every day if you’d like. I do recommend a day or two off a week. Between eating enough and getting your cardio exercise especially, because your cardio exercise is your aerobic activity which burns fat, and plenty of water, you will definitely see your body letting go of stored fat. Wedding Dresses

Saturday, September 15th, 2007

By Vivian Gilbert Zabel Over the centuries wedding dresses have changed, but a bride has always wanted her dress to be special, to make her look more beautiful. Centuries ago, only the rich could afford materials of red, purple, and true black; therefore, the wealthy brides would wear dresses of color adorned with jewels. The bride would actually glitter in the sunshine. The dress with flowing sleeves or a train was a status symbol, for the poor had to use material as sparingly as possible. Factory-made materials, with their lower costs, caused the lost of the original meaning of the train of a wedding gown, but it became a tradition over time. Fashions changed from gowns of color to ones of white, or a variation of white, but since it wasnt a practical shade for most purposes, blue became another favorite, as did pink. In the 1800’s, gray became a color for wedding gowns for brides of lower classes because the dress became re-used as the brides Sunday best. For those who had to wear a dress that would be used for regular occasions after the wedding, many brides would decorate the dress for the special day with temporary decorations. The traditional wedding dress as known today didnt appear until the 1800’s. By 1800, machine made fabrics and inexpensive muslins made the white dress with a veil the prevailing fashion. By the nineteenth century, a bride wearing her white dress after the wedding was accepted. Re-trimming the dress made it appropriate for many different functions. As times passed, womens fashions changed. Hems rose and fell, but the long dress, with or without a train, remained the length preferred by brides. Sleeve lengths and neck styles changed with the current fashions, but mainly remained modest. Full sleeves, tight sleeves, sleeveless styles came and went and came again. Simple designs to elaborate have been found over the years. Todays wedding dress fad appears to be the strapless dress, which looks lovely on some figures. Some brides still want styles of the past. The main consideration for a bride-to-be is what is appropriate for her to wear. Style should match her figure and her financial means, as well as the setting for the ceremony. For example, a larger framed woman should try on the dresses she likes, and then choose one that flatters her. Every bride wants to look lovelier on that special day. If she has $500 to spend on a dress, then she shouldnt be looking at $5,000 dresses. If the wedding is to be held in a garden, a heavily beaded dress maybe should be avoided. Appropriateness is the key word as a bride searches for the perfect dress, whether in real life or written into a story. A full length mirror often tells the truth either place.
